Overview

Manual Handling injuries and injuries from slips or falls contribute the largest cause of lost time at work.

These 2 online course will provide the knowledge needs to reduce the risk of trip, fall or Manual Handling incident in the workplace.

According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), around 10,000 people suffer a major slip or trip injury whilst at work annually.

Description

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 requires employers to ensure the health and safety of all employees and anyone affected by their work, so far as is reasonably practicable, which means balancing the level of risk against the measures needed to control the risk in terms of money, time or trouble. This includes taking steps to control slip and trip risks.

The Manual Handling course is designed to teach the learners all about the importance of correct manual handling procedures. If you take part in any kind of lifting at your place of work, knowledge of manual handling is absolutely essential to prevent injuries. You are also required under law to have a manual handling certificate at any job that requires lifting.

The Preventing, slips, trips and falls course educates staff on the most common slip, trip, and fall hazards and how they can occur in the workplace. Also how to carry out a risk assessment and how to prevent hazards from posing a risk to employees through the implementation of control measures,

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
